Wrestling to Host Davidson to Begin Homestand

BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University wrestling finishes the regular-season with three-straight home matches, starting Tuesday night when ASU hosts Davidson at 6 p.m. in Varsity Gym.

The Mountaineers have won five of their last seven matches, but lost to Chattanooga and Northern Iowa on Saturday. Appalachian comes into the match 7-10 overall and 1-2 in the Southern Conference.

Austin Trotman continued his success with two more wins on Saturday to up his winning streak to 10. Trotman beat Jason McCroskey of Chattanooga 9-4 and beat UNI's Scott Hazen 11-4. Trotman's last loss was on Jan. 4, and it was his first match wrestling at 184 pounds.

Sophomore Kyle Blevins had his winning streak snapped at eight over the weekend, but has won 9-of-10 and leads the Apps with 19 wins on the season.

Davidson is 2-13 overall and 0-4 in the Southern Conference. The Wildcats were shutout in three of its first four matches and their only wins have come over Franklin & Marshall and Millersville.

Davidson is led by 125 pounder Ben Altman, who is 17-11 on year while Vitaly Radsky is second on the team with 13 wins.

ASU hosts VMI on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the final Southern Conference match of the season.
