Appalachian State University begins a grueling five-game road trip with mid-week non-conference tilts at Presbyterian and Auburn. Appalachian goes for a season sweep of Presbyterian on Tuesday at 2 p.m. followed by a trip to face Auburn at one of college baseball's great venues, Plainsman Park, on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Appalachian (9-0) enters the daunting road trip, which concludes this weekend with a three-game Southern Conference series at defending SoCon Tournament champion Georgia Southern, as one of just eight remaining undefeated teams in NCAA Division I. ASU's 9-0 start is the best in school history.

The five-game roadie begins against a Presbyterian squad that the Mountaineers downed 6-1 in the season opener for both teams on Feb. 19. Since that point, PC has struggled to a 2-9 record but both victories have come at home, where the Blue Hose are 2-2 this season and have won three-straight overall.

On Wednesday, Appalachian looks to put stamp of validation on its hot start when it squares off with traditional Southeastern Conference power Auburn. The Tigers, which square off with archrival Alabama in a non-conference tilt on Tuesday evening in Birmingham, Ala., come into the week with a 9-2 record. However, unlike ASU, which will play its first 14 games of the season away from home, AU has played each of its first 11 in the friendly confines of historic Plainsman Park.

The Mountaineers, which sport a 2.78 team ERA, the best mark in the SoCon by nearly a run-and-a-half and two-and-a-half runs better than the league average (5.28), will send So. RHP Seth Grant (0-0, 6.75 ERA) to the mound Tuesday vs. PC. Wednesday's starter will be determined following Tuesday's contest versus the Blue Hose.
