No introductions are needed among Appalachian State players for the man they call “Coach Satt.”

Stephen Burns, ASU’s starting nose tackle, was on campus last Friday ordering his Southern Conference championship ring just before a media conference announcing Scott Satterfield as the team’s new head coach. For Satterfield, a former player and longtime assistant for the Mountaineers, his new title had a definite ring to it.

Burns saw Satterfield and said, “How you doing, head coach?”

Satterfield knows the players and the players know him.
