BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University field hockey head coach Brandi Alexander Kist announced the signing of Sophia Tikson who will be eligible to play for the Mountaineers in Spring, 2013.

Tickson comes to Boone from Worthington High School where she was named rookie of the year as a freshman and earned honorable mention all-conference as a junior. The Worthington, Ohio native garnered first team all-Ohio, all-Ohio and was named to the all-star team in her senior campaign.

Alexander-Kist's Comments: "We are very excited to have Sophie as a member of our program and to have the opportunity to work on developing her skill before her first fall competition season. Her athletic ability, game sense, and work ethic have already allowed her to contribute to our skill and conditioning sessions and we are looking forward to watching her grow through the spring semester."
