Johnson Leads Spring Hill Suites Tournament After Two Rounds

FLORENCE, SC - Appalachian State University men's golf's Casey Johnson fired rounds of 69 and 67 to lead the individual standings at 8-under 136 at the Spring Hill Suites Intercollegiate. The Mountaineers stand in 12th place as a team, with rounds of 298-283-581 (+5).

Lance Wheeler shot 75-73-148 (+4) to tie for 55th after one day, while Jacob Eggers is just one shot back at 79-70-149 (+5) of the bunch in a tie for 65th.

Dustin Hudson carded a 77-73-150 (+6) to stand in 68th and Darren Cook shot 77-78-155 (+11) for 80th with 18 holes to play.

Elon's Jayson Judy (70-67) and Patrick Coleman (69-68) of Presbyterian College are tied for second place one stroke back at 137.

USC Aiken shot a 10-under-par team score during Monday's (Sept. 14) second round to grab a four-stroke lead in the team standings at the Springhill Suites Intercollegiate Golf Tournament hosted by Francis Marion University at the Country Club of South Carolina in Florence.

USCA compiled a 16-under-par 560 team score after Monday's opening two rounds and leads Western Carolina University by four strokes.  The 54-hole event is being played on the par-72, 7,062-yard CCSC course.

The host Patriots carded a 6-over 294 team score during the first 18 holes, but rebounded with a 4-under 284 in the afternoon round and stand in 10th place at 578.

The third and final round will be played on Tuesday.
