Eggers and Johnson Tied for Eleventh at Sea Trail

SUNSET BEACH, N.C. - Jacob Eggers and Casey Johnson shot two-under 70s on Friday in the opening round of the Sea Trail Intercollegiate to tie for 11th place for Appalachian State University men's golf. The second round begins Saturday morning and the event wraps up with a third round on Sunday.

Dustin Hudson carded a round of 73 (+1) for a tie in 34th place, while Lance Wheeler and Colin Hobbs stand just one stroke back in a tie for 42nd place of the 88 golfers at the tournament.

Competing individually, Jay Brown and Ryan Yarbrough each shot 76 (+4) and rank in 69th place on the 6,761 yard course.

The Mountaineers are deadlocked with Jacksonville and Villanova at 287 (-1), and the trio is just one stroke back of fifth-place George Mason.

Sam Ryder shot a six-under-par 66 to lead the field at the Sea Trail Intercollegiate and guide his Stetson Hatters to the top spot after the first round of play at 274 (-14). Southern Conference rival is second, five strokes back.

Host Elon is ninth, five strokes behind the Apps.
