Men's Golf Third After First Round of Mission Inn Intercollegiate

ORLANDO, Fla. - Casey Johnson and Dustin Hudson paced Appalachian State University men's golf on Friday as each shot a par-71 in the openind round of the Mission Inn Intercollegiate. The two Mountaineers are tied for fifth individually, while the team stands in third place with two rounds to play.

Lance Wheeler is just a stroke back at 72 (+1) in a tie for ninth place, while Jacob Eggers is 39th with a 79 (+8).

Josh Nichols carded an 83 (+12) for the day, for a tie in 56th.

Florida Gulf Coast leads the event at 285 (+1) with Rollins College trailing by six strokes. ASU is just two back from Rollins at 293 (+9) on the 6,614-yard course and holds a four-stroke lead over Stetson and Boston College.

FGCU's Daniel Mazziotta shot a 68 (-3) to lead all individuals.

The 13 teams open Saturday's round at 7:30 a.m.
