DAVIDSON, N.C.- Appalachian State University men's tennis finished play at the Davidson Invitational on a solid note, as the Apps faced Richmond in doubles action and took on SoCon nemesis Davidson in both singles and doubles action. Against the Spiders, the Apps went 1-3, while posting a 3-4 mark against the Wildcats in singles play and 3-1 record against DC in doubles play.
The duo of Philip Kloc and Alain Humblet earned ASU's lone win against Richmond with an 8-3 rout of of Rafael Arana and Jesse Feder, while the team of Andrew McKinnon and Britton Webb lost to Sam Hyland and Dylan Schrode by a close 9-8 margin. Ezekiel Sansing and Russ Ferrari closed out doubles action against the Spiders falling 8-6 to their opponents.
Against the Wildcats, three Mountaineers grabbed wins. Peter Jacobs dropped a 8-5 decision at the number one spot, but Trent Constance was victorious at the number two position, downing Walker Lyons 8-4. Kloc was also successful at number three, winning 8-7, but Humblet, McKinnon and Webb were all defeated by their oponents. Sansing grabbed ASU's final win in singles play, winning 9-8, while Ferrari fell to his competitor.
The Black and Gold dominated doubles play against DC, as the teams of Kloc and Humblet and Jacobs and Constance both won by scores of 8-2. McKinnon and Webb also grabbed a win, with Sansing and Ferrari dropping the squad's lone doubles match against the Wildcats, falling 8-1.
Appalachian returns to action October 15, as they head to Chapel Hill, N.C. to compete at the NCAA Mideast Regionals.
