BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University women's soccer hosts The Citadel and College of Charleston this weekend to conclude the home portion of the schedule.
The Mountaineers host The Citadel on Friday at 7 p.m. and host the Cougars on Sunday at 3 p.m. for senior day.
Appalachian comes into Friday nights match with a 5-7-2 overall record and 2-3-1 in the SoCon while The Citadel is 5-9 overall and 2-4 in conference play.
About the Mountaineers
Katy Dodd leads the Apps' in goals with three while Sydney Hill, Paige Morrow and Hannah Coad all have two.
Dodd and Morrow are 2-of-5 Mountaineers' that have started every game this season, the other three are Taylor Dunlap, Lindsay Jaffe and Leigh Morrow. Coad, Stephanie Balzano, Michelle Jewell and Ruthie Lile have played in every game.
Caroline Clarke has started 12 games in goal. She leads the SoCon in saves with 59 an dis fifth with a .831 save percentage.
About the Bulldogs
The Citadel is tied for the SoCon lead in goals scored with 26, however, 14 of those goals came in a 14-0 win over Alabama State in the first game of the season.
Amy Loughran leads the squad with seven goals and four assists while Nicole Martinoli has six goals and three assists.
Whitney Nave has started 12 games in goal and has a 1.62 goals against average and has made 63 saves.
ASU and the Bulldogs have played five common opponents. Both teams beat Coastal Caroline 1-0, ASU lost to Samford 4-0 while The Citadel lost 1-0. Appalachian lost to Chattanooga 2-1 in overtime while the Bulldogs beat UTC 1-0. Both teams beat Georgia Southern while Appalachian beat Davidson 2-0, The Citadel lost 1-0.
About the Cougars
College of Charleston is currently tied atop the Southern Conference with a 5-1 SoCon record and is 9-4-1 overall.
Alyssa Bearden and Annie Pease leads the Cougars with four goals apiece.
Sarah Wiggers has started eight games in goal and has a 0.84 goals against average and has made 45 saves.
Before Sunday's match against CofC, ASU will honor its six seniors: Emma White, Paige Morrow, Leigh Morrow, Caroline Lowe, Stephanie Balzano and Jennifer MacNeill.
