Cash and Ansari Pace Women's Tennis at First Day of ITA Regional Championships

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.- Appalachian State University women's tennis continued with its 2009 fall slate, as three Mountaineers traveled to Wake Forest to compete at the ever-competitive ITA Regional Championships.

Senior Amanda Cash opened up play for the Black and Gold in singles play, as Cash fell to Lindsay Leblang of UNC Wilmington, falling in two hard-fought sets 7-5, 7-5.

Teammate freshman Jennifer Ansari also suffered the same fate, as she was defeated by Carolina Magnussan of Clemson in two sets as well, dropping a 6-1, 6-0 decision.

In doubles action, the duo of Cash and Ansari defeated Kayla Carter and Sloane Holmes of Winston-Salem State, downing their opponents 8-1. The two go on to face Sanaz Marand and Sophie Grabinski tomorrow.

Ellie Linsell will also be in action at the regional championships, as she faces Mihaela Bunea of Coastal Carolina tomorrow in singles action.
