Women's Soccer Takes on Furman

GREENVILLE, S.C. - Appalachian State University women's soccer will look to spoil Furman's postseason hopes on Sunday as they travel to Greenville for a 3 p.m. match.

Appalachian set a single-season record with their fourth tie of the season on Thursday with a 1-1 tie at Wofford. Kaitlin Baker scored her first career goal in the 71st minute to knot the score at one after Wofford took the lead just four minutes into the second half.

For the season, Sydney Hill leads ASU with eight points (3G, 2A) while Katy Dodd is second with seven points (3G, 1A). With her goal on Thursday, Baker joins four other Mountaineers' as having scored their first career goals, including Hill, Hannah Coad, Meggie Graham and Taylor Dunlap.

Caroline Clarke has started 15 games in goal this season making a conference best 79 saves and has a 0.99 goals against average.

Furman comes into the match with a 10-5 overall record and 4-4 in the Southern Conference.

Martha Hall is second in the conference with nine goals scored and leads the Paladins with 19 points and is tied for third in the SoCon.

Jessica Smith has played 15 games in goal and has a 0.94 goals against average and has made 52 saves this season.

The Mountaineers finish off the regular-season at Western Carolina on Friday, Oct. 30 at 6 p.m.
