BOONE, N.C. -- Appalachian State field hockey dropped a NorPac conference game Sunday, falling 3-1 to the Radford Highlanders at Kidd Brewer Stadium.
Radford's Courtney Poole connected on the lone goal of the first half, scoring in the 12th minute off a feed from Madonna Wadolowski. In the first half, the Highlanders outshot ASU 11-6 with none of the App attempts reaching goal.
In the second half, Melissa Register scored in the 47th minute to put the Apps in a 2-0 hole. Appalachian showed signs of life in the closing moments as junior forward Nicole Morgan connected in the 57th minute to cut the margin in half. However, Morgan's late strike would not be enough as the Highlanders closed the door with a goal from Lara Cariker in the 63rd minute.

Goalkeeper Bridgette Street posted 11 saves on the day to bring her season total to 194, ranking sixth all-time in school history. Morgan's goal was her sixth of the season which leads the team.
Appalachian will return to action next Sunday, as they host Longwood in the final regular-season game. Seniors Kate Garnet, Jessie Harris, and Ashley Patterson will be honored in their last home game in the Black and Gold.
