BOONE, N.C. -- Appalachian State field hockey will close out the 2009 regular season Sundat at Kidd Brewer Stadium, hosting the Longwood Lancers on senior day.

ASU enters Sunday’s game looking to close the regular season on a positive note after dropping seven straight contests. The Mountaineers, who are currently tied with Davidson, can shore up the third seed in the East Division for next week’s NorPac Tournament in Palo Alto, Calif. with a win today Sunday while the Lancers are looking to clinch first place in the NorPac East Division.

The Mountaineers will be looking to exact some revenge on the Lancers after dropping a 3-2 overtime decision at Longwood October 10th. Longwood’s Julia Hernandez broke a 2-2 tie in the extra frame with the game-winning score just 57 seconds into OT.

Sunday’s game marks the final game of the 2009 regular season as well as the final game at Kidd Brewer Stadium for seniors Denise Adams, Kate Garnet, Jessie Harris, and Ashley Patterson. Senior day is slated for a 1 p.m. start.
