Muniz Named First-Team All-SoCon

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Arie Muniz earned first-team all-Southern Conference honors for the second-straight season while David Dodge, J.J. Elder and Kojo Thompson earned all-freshman honors, the conference announced Thursday.

Muniz led the Mountaineers’ in goals with six and points with 16 and was tied for sixth in the conference in points and tied for seventh in goals. The all-conference honor is the third of his career. He finished his career with 20 goals and 16 for a total of 57 points.

Dodge played in all 17 games on the year, starting 16. He scored one goal on the year and was a dominant force at midfield for ASU.

Elder appeared in 16 games making 10 starts at defense for the Apps’. He was tied for second on the team in goals with five, a total that put him second in the SoCon among freshmen.

Thompson played in all 17 game and started 13. With his strong play on the back line, helped the ASU defense finish third in the SoCon in goals allowed.

With four Mountaineers’ earning all-conference, it is the 36th-straight year ASU has had at least one player on the SoCon all-conference team. In its second year of existence, its the second-straight year ASU has had three players on the all-freshman team.
