PHILADELPHIA - Appalachian State University quarterback Armanti Edwards, defensive back Mark LeGree and head coach Jerry Moore are among the finalists for the 2009 Walter Payton, Buck Buchanan and Eddie Robinson Awards, respectively, The Sports Network announced on Monday. Balloting for the Payton, Buchanan and Robinson Awards takes place this week among NCAA Division I FCS media and sports information directors.

Edwards, the 2008 Payton Award winner, is looking to become the first two-time winner in the 23-year history of the Payton Award, which is presented annually to the nation's top FCS player. LeGree, who finished third in voting for the 2008 Buchanan Award as a sophomore, would be the first Mountaineer to bring home the honor as FCS's top defensive player since Dexter Coakley won the first two Buchanan Awards in 1995 and '96. Moore is a candidate to become just the second two-time winner in the 23-year history of the Robinson Award. He also earned the honor as the nation's top FCS coach in 2006.

The Sports Network will announce the winners of all three awards at its annual FCS Awards Presentation on Dec. 17 in Chattanooga, Tenn.
