SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Appalachian State seniors
Ashley McKiver and
Julie Ward have been honored as the Southern Conference Women’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for all meets January 14-16. The selections are made the by the league’s track and field coaches.
McKiver, a native of High Point, N.C., won the 200m at the Appalachian Open with a current league-leading time of 25.89. Her time of 7.20 seconds in the 55m was good for second place.
Ward, a local product from Boone, won the pole vault with a jump of 11-11.75. She also placed third in the high jump with a leap of 5-4.25.
The Mountaineers return to action Friday when they compete at East Tennessee State’s Niswonger Invitational in Johnson City, Tenn.
