SPARTANBURG, S.C. - For the second time this season, Appalachian State University men's tennis player Alain Humblet has been named the Southern Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week. For the week of April 2-8, Humblet posted a 3-0 record in both singles and doubles play for Mountaineers.
Humblet was also honored for the week of Feb. 20-26, and he takes the Apps' fourth selection of the season.
Appalachian State went 3-0 last week as the Mountaineers downed Presbyterian (6-1), Wofford (7-0) and Chattanooga (5-2).

for ASU. Humblet began the week with a 6-4, 7-6 victory over
Presbyterian's William O'Connell and followed up with wins over
Wofford's Jackson Keith (6-4, 6-2) and Chattanooga's Chris Smith (6-2,
6-2). The three wins last week moved Humblet's record to 14-5 this
spring, including a
7-1 mark in league play.
Paired with classmate Alex Markov, Humblet helped secure three wins at No. 2 doubles for the Mountaineers. Humblet and Markov held off PC's Andrew Brigham and O'Connell, 9-8. They then topped Wofford's Stuart Robinson and Tom Wood, 8-1. Humblet and Markov closed the week with an 8-4 victory over Chattanooga's Jackson Tresnan and Manuel Barroetavena.
Other top performers in the Southern Conference included College of Charleston's Mickael Trintignac, Furman's Tyler Droll, UNCG's Orcun Seyrek, Samford's Elliot Barnwell and Chattanooga's Roberto Vieira.
Appalachian State hosts two matches this week, beginning with a showdown against Furman on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. Originally scheduled for Wednesday, the meeting with the Paladins was pushed back a day due to a windy weather forecast for the High Country. Appalachian wraps its regular season with a home match against College of Charleson on Friday at 3 p.m.
