BOONE, N.C. – Appalachian State University men's tennis will seek its first win of the season when it plays host to No. 73 East Tennessee State University on Saturday at 1 p.m., followed by Tennessee Tech University on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. Both matches will take place indoors at Deer Valley Racquet Club.

The Mountaineers (0-3) are coming off a 3-4 loss against Presbyterian College on Saturday in their first home match of the season. while the Buccaneers (0-2) won their most recent match against No. 71 UL-Layfayette (4-2). Tennessee Tech will face the Mountaineers following six straight losses, including notable matchups against No. 20 Tennessee and #60 Georgia State.

SCOUTING THE BUCCANEERS (ETSU)
• ETSU (2-2) will be looking for its third victory against the Mountaineers. The Bucs took a 6-1 victory last season, along with a 5-2 defeat in 2011. 
• ETSU began the 2013 season two weeks ago, falling to then-No. 66 Wake Forest in a 7-0 final, but answering with a 4-2 win against Oklahoma State in Knoxville the following day. 
• The Bucs also played notable matches against No. 4 Ohio State, who ended the day with a 7-0 win before defeating ULL, 4-2.
• Ramirez and Ordeig have been instrumental in the Bucs’ pair of wins, having both been victorious in their respective singles matches. 
• Ordeig was named Atlantic Sun Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for the first time in his collegiate career.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES (TN. TECH)
• Tech and Appalachian State have met twice prior to Sunday's matchup, with both teams each taking a victory.
The Mountaineers took the first win in Feb. 1987, when they defeated the Golden Eagles in an 8-1 final.
The two teams met again in 2009, 22 years later, when Tennessee Tech marked a 4-3 victory over App State.
This weekend's matchup will be the first time that TTU will travel to Boone.
Senior Syrym Abdukhalikov leads the Golden Eagles with a 4-0 record in singles play.

GLANCING AHEAD
• Following this weekend's home matches, the Mountaineers will enter a seven-match road swing. 
• First up, Appalachian will travel to Asheville, N.C. to face UNC Asheville on Feb. 9 at 3 p.m.
