SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Senior Jared Stalling was named Southern Conference January athlete of the month for men's track and field after his outstanding performance this past month, the league announced Thursday.
Stalling posted a first-place finish in the shot put and a second-place finish in the weight throw at the Mountaineer Open to lead the Apps in field events.
The Greensboro, N.C. native earned a fourth-place finish in the weight throw at the Kentucky Invitational as he tossed a 18.80m and a ninth-place finish in the shot put with a 16.10m throw, which currently leads the SoCon.
The Mountaineers will be back in action on Friday, Feb. 8 when they travel to Lynchburg, Va. for the Liberty Quad. The meet is slated to start at 3:30 p.m.
