BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State women's tennis will continue it's spring break series in the Carolinas as it faces UNC Wilmington on March 14 at 10 a.m. followed by Campbell University a day later for a 2 p.m. match.
The Mountaineers (9-3, 2-0 SoCon) began the season within the Carolinas and have chosen to compete in-state during their spring break competition. Women's tennis recorded a disappointing 5-2 loss to Gardner-Webb on Wednesday, but nabbed back-to-back conference victories against Chattanooga and Samford prior, leading to a program-first ITA Top 75 ranking.
The Seahawks (7-5, 0-1 CAA) last took to the courts in a 4-3 decision to East Tennessee State University. UNCW's Angie Sekely and Kelly Cameron earned victories at No. 1 and No. 3 last week, along with Alyssa Ritchie and Christine Kharkevic, who won in No. 5 and 6 singles to edge the Seakhawks in their latest victory.
The Fighting Camels (4-8, 2-1 Big South) most recently topped Radford University on March 9. Campbell swept the doubles decision to pick up an early 1-0 lead, and continued the momentum through singles action. Ana Maria Ortiz and Karolina Chernaya both found success at No. 2 and 3 singles, while Ewa Telenga and Lourdes Ros secured the Camel victory with No. 5 and 6 victories.
After completing matches against UNC Wilmington and Campbell, the Mountaineers will return to Boone to host conference opponent Georgia Southern on March 17 at noon.
