Women's Tennis To Host Georgia Southern on Sunday

BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State women's tennis returns to Boone to host SoCon foe Georgia Southern on March 17 at 10 a.m. in its first home contest since March 1, when the Mountaineers knocked off conference rival Chattanooga in a 4-2 decision. 

The Mountaineers (10-4, 2-0 SoCon) captured a 5-2 victory at Campbell University on Friday afternoon to round out spring break play with a 1-2 split. The earlier part of the week resulted in a pair of disappointing losses to Gardner-Webb and UNCW, but women's tennis bounced right back when it took down the Fighting Camels (4-9) to add another win to their credit, which includes back-to-back conference victories against Chattanooga and Samford, leading to a the Mountaineers' first ever ITA Top 75 ranking. The Mountaineers are 3-1 at home this season.

The Eagles (4-6, 2-1 SoCon) are are coming off a 6-1 non-conference victory against Savannah State on March 9, and will head to Davidson, N.C. to face the Wildcats on Saturday before traveling on to the High Country for Sunday's Mountaineer match. GSU is 2-1 in conference play overall, but the Eagles are 1-1 in conference road trips, falling to Furman on March 2 in a 7-0 sweep, but picking up a 6-1 win at Wofford on March 3.

Following Sunday's match, the Mountaineers will remain at home for their next three matches. Up first, Appalachian will welcome the College of Charleston to Boone on March 24 for a noon matchup.
