BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University women's golfer
Mary Kate Bowman was named second team ESPN The Magazine academic all-district recognition from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), the organization announced on Thursday.
The senior carried a 3.96 grade point average in her music education major into the season. In 2008-09, she ranked second on the team with an 81.05 stroke average and posted five top-30 finishes in nine tournaments. She shot a career-low 71 en route to a 16th place at Great Smokies.
A three-time NGCA all-American scholar, the Winston-Salem, N.C. native completed a successful four-year career for the Mountaineers, including two top-ten rounds in school history.
Bowman was the lone senior for ASU this season and was also a member of Appalachian's marching band.
She joins men's soccer's
Antonio Harley and baseball's
David Towarnicky as 2008-09 ASU honorees.
