The Mountaineers competed against 45 teams on Lehigh’s Goodman Campus Course and finished 36th overall in the 8k race.
The meet featured eight of the Top 25 teams, including No. 4 Oklahoma, No. 5 Iona, No. 12 Princeton, No. 15 Syracuse, No. 17 Providence, No. 18 Villanova, No. 19 Virginia and No. 22 Georgetown.
Senior Nick Kelly led the way for the Mountaineers with a time of 26:03 and placed 174th out of the 402 runners. Junior Alex Taylor crossed the finish line a second behind Kelly to take 175th-place.
Junior Michael Lilley finished with a time of 26:19, while redshirt-sophomore James Howard-Smith and freshman Chris Garrett finished with the time of 26:35 and 26:36 respectively to round out Appalachian’s top five performers.
Junior Charles Wofford crossed the finish line with a time of 26:42, while senior Chris Moen finished with the time 26:52.
Fourth-ranked Oklahoma took the title with four runners finishing in the top-10 overall for a total of 34 points, and followed by No. 22 Georgetown with 143 points.
The Mountaineers will take this coming week off in preparation for the Blue Ridge Open on October 14 at State Farm Field in Boone.
