PALO ALTO, Calif. -- Appalachian State field hockey placed two players on the NorPac all-conference team, the league announced at its annual banquet Wednesday.
Senior Jessie Harris and junior Nicole Morgan each claimed all-league honors for the first time in their respective careers after leading Appalachian to their winningest season since 2003.
Harris, a forward from Aurora, Colo., was named first-team all-conference after a senior season in which she finished second on the team with 11 points (five goals, one assist) trailing only Morgan. For her career, Harris posted totals of 17 goals and 10 assists. Her assist total ranks fifth in ASU history.
Junior forward Nicole Morgan joined Harris on the first team after emerging as the Mountaineers top goal-scoring threat in the '09 season. The Virginia Beach native currently leads the team with 12 points (six goals), including two-goal performances against Sacred Heart and Davidson.
Wednesday's announcement marks the first time Appalachian has had a first-team all-NorPac selection since 2003, and only the second time since joining the conference in 2000 that the Mountaineers have had multiple selections on the first team.
Appalachian State field hockey will return to action Thursday, matching up with #12 Stanford in the first round of the NorPac Conference Tournament.
