CHAPEL HILL, N.C.- Appalachian State University men's tennis capped off action at the ITA Regionals on a solid note Saturday, as the Apps posted strong peformances in singles play.
Senior Peter Jacobs had one of the Mountaineers best showings of the day, putting up a stout effort against North Carolina's Clay Donato. Jacobs pushed Donato to three sets, after dropping the first one 2-6, the South African native earned a 6-1 second set win, before falling 1-6 in the third set. Donato went on to advance to semi-final action.
Alain Humblet advanced to the quarterfinals of the singles flight, as he downed Chris Cooprider 6-4, 6-3 before dropping a tough decision to Henrique Cunna of Duke, losing in two sets 6-4, 6-3.
Philip Kloc rounded out action for the Apps, as he was defeated in three thrilling sets, falling 3-6, 7-6, 6-2 to Torsten Wietoska of Duke.
Appalachian will play its final fall tournament October 23, as the Apps head to Charleston, S.C. to take part in the Charleston Invitational.
