BOONE, N.C.- Appalchian State University women's tennis has set its 2010 schedule, announced head coach Colin Crothers Thursday morning. The Mountaineers will play nine home matches in 2010, including key conference tilts against College of Charleston, UNCG and Samford.

The season kicks off with five straight road-matches, including trips to Conway, S.C. to play Coastal Carolina, Greensboro, N.C. to face NC A&T along with other matches at Lees-McRae, N.C. Central and Gardner-Webb.

ASU finally makes its home debut on February 19, as the Black and Gold welcomes East Carolina, with the match slated to begin at 3 p.m. ASU dropped a 7-0 decision to its cross-state rival in 2009.

Appalachian travels off the mountain once more to square off against Winston-Salem State February 21 at 1 p.m., before treking back to the High Country for a home match against Longwood on March 5.

The Apps then head for the Sunshine State for Spring Break play, as they take on Radford and Bowling Green in Orlando, Fla., March 9 and March 12.

The 2010 ever-challening SoCon schedule starts on March 14 when ASU heads to Chattanooga, Tenn. to take on UTC at 1 p.m. ASU defeated the Lady Mocs 4-3 at the end of the 2009 season, but then UTC handed ASU a 4-2 defeat in the first-round of the SoCon Tournament to eliminate the Apps.

League play continues on the road, with matches at Elon on March 17 and Wofford on March 20, before the Mountaineers finally return home for a three match home-stand against College of Charleston, Davidson and Georgia Southern, with the matches set for March 21, March 25 and March 28.

SoCon-power Furman is up next for the Mountaineers, as they travel to Greenville, S.C. to face the Paladins, March 31 at 1 p.m.

The Black and Gold close out their regular-season with five straight home contests against UNCG, UNC Asheville, Charlotte, Western Carolina and Samford.

The Southern Conference Tournament is slated for April 24-25 in Charleston, S.C.
