BOONE, N.C. -- Appalachian State men's cross country will be looking to put a cap on another banner year in 2009 Saturday, as they will travel to Louisville, Ky. to compete in the NCAA Southeast Regional.
The Mountaineers, who won their fifth consecutive Southern Conference championship at Elon two weeks ago, will be led by seniors Phil Mitchell and Alec Meyer, and sophomore Sean Soderman who all claimed first-team all-conference honors at the SoCon championships.
Appalachian will also be looking to improve upon a 15th place finish at last year's regional. The '08 squad was led by former ASU standouts Asmeron Desta, who took home all-region honors after a 20th place individual finish, and Ryan O' Keefe who placed 92nd.
Saturday's meet, which is slated for a 10 a.m. start, marks the first time in 2009 that the Mountaineers have competed on a 10K course. Stay logged on to GoASU.com for results from the NCAA Southeast Regional and all the latest in Appalachian athletics.
