BOONE, N.C. -- Appalachian State women's cross country will be looking to build upon a strong third-place finish at the SoCon Championships, as they travel to Louisville, Ky. to compete in the Southeast Regional Championships Saturday.

The Mountaineers will be led by Southern Conference Runner of the Year Brittney Caudle. Caudle, who won the conference championship by over 20 seconds, appears to be Appalachian's best chance to qualify for the NCAA Championships scheduled for November 23 in Terre Haute, Ind.

Other Mountaineers who figure to lead the way Saturday include juniors Katie Booker and Dani Reese as well as freshman Trinity Foreman. Booker picked up second-team all-SoCon honors after a 13th place finish at the conference meet while Reese barely missed all-league honors after finishing three places back in 16th. Foreman joined Caudle on the all-freshman team on the strength of a 23rd place performance.

Appalachian will also be looking to improve upon a 22nd place finish at last year's regional championship. Former standout Meg Gaffney led the '08 squad, picking up all-region honors after a 19th place finish.
