Complete Final ResultsWAYNESVILLE, N.C. – Sophomore Emily Cheves shot a three-over-par 147 to lead Appalachian State University women’s golf this weekend at the Great Smokies Invitational, hosted by Western Carolina at par 72, 5920-yard, Waynesville Country Club.
Cheves’ rounds of 72 and 75 were good for a tie for sixth among 120 individuals, six strokes behind individual champion Elin Andersson of South Alabama.
Following Cheves, Appalachian’s Keri Dice tied for 36th (79-76-155), just 11 strokes over par. Brooke DeHart (82-81-163), Jordan Kreuter (84-80-164) and Mary Kate Bowman (82-84-166) rounded out the scoring for ASU.
As a team, the Mountaineers tied for 13th (315-312-627) among 24 teams. They finished 36 strokes behind the tournament winner Chattanooga (299-292-591).
The Mountaineers return to action Oct. 15-16 at the Spider Invitational, hosted by Richmond at Independence Golf Course in Midlothian, Va.
