by Appalachian Sports Information March 29, 2008 - COLUMBIA, S.C. - Appalachian State men's track was led by Joel Gaddy's first place finish in the triple jump, at 49-feet 8-inches, and several other jumpers had similar success on Saturday at South Carolina's Weems Baskins Invitational. In the 100-meter dash, Ricky Harris placed ninth with a 10.83. Brooks Forsyth took home third place in the 800-meter run at 1:57.23. Daniel Neal posted a 14.32 time in the 110-meter hurdles for a fourth-place finish. The time was a personal-best, and moved Neal into eighth place on the career list at Appalachian. Matt Boruff was just behind in sixth place at 15.10. Phillip Bush ran a 14.52 for eighth. Harris and Boruff each leapt 5-feet 11.25 inches for a seventh-place tie in the high jump. Gaddy led the team in the long jump, good for second place. Harris was just behind in third, at 23-2. Wes Kiser led the throwers with a fourth-place finish in the discus throw at 148-10.75 and third in the hammer throw at 184-0.75. Jerod Gardner finished fifth behind Kiser in the discus throw at 146-11 and Tim Daly placed fourth in the hammer throw at 176-9.25. The team returns to action next weekend at the Duke Invitational in Durham, N.C. |
