by Appalachian Sports Information April 3, 2008 - DURHAM, N.C. - Wallace Wade Stadium will play host to the Duke Invitational on Friday and Saturday, as the Appalachian State outdoor track season continues. The meet will serve as the final tune-up before the SoCon Outdoor Championship on April 26-27 in Cullowhee, N.C. The teams split up last weekend, as several men's track athletes competed at NC State's Raleigh Relays while the rest of the team enjoyed success at South Carolina's Weems Baskins Invitational. Ashley McKiver shaved nearly three-tenths of a second off of her previous best 100-meter time to run an 11.84 and moves into the top ten list in the ASU career record book. It is also the best time in the Southern Conference this season. Both Charlotte Walsh and Stephanie Payne competed in the 3000-meter Steeplechase for the first time this season. Walsh posted an 11:56.33 while Payne ran a 12:43.44. On the men's side, Ricky Harris ran a season-best 10.84 in the 100-meter dash while Daniel Neal and Matt Boruff each posted a 14.34 in the 110-meter hurdles to crack the career top ten list. Joel Gaddy leapt 23-feet 6.25-inches in the long jump, his best mark of the outdoor season.
