May 17, 2008 - ATLANTA, Ga. - In the final meet of the regular season, senior Brittani Williams set a school record and classmate Vonteena Knotts qualified for the NCAA East Regional meet in the triple jump. Several other Appalachian State women's track and field team members posted strong outings at the Georgia Tech Invitational over the weekend as well.

Williams, the Most Oustanding SoCon Field Performer, set a new school record in the discus with a 157-feet 4-inch mark. She placed fourth in the event and classmate Lily Tallent finished 12th with a season-best mark of 134-6.

Williams also competed in the hammer throw, finishing 13th with a 150-7.

Tallent placed 13th with a season-best javelin throw of 122-2 to move from eighth to seventh in the ASU record book and Williams finished sixth in the shot put with a 46-4.

Knotts placed fourth in the long jump with a season-best 19-feet 5.5-inches, but fell 2.75 inches shy of a regional qualifying bid. She did qualify for Regionals in the triple jump with a jump of 40-5. She placed seventh in the event with the season-best jump. Danielle Thorpe was ninth at 39-10, and will join Knotts at the NCAA meet as she had already qualified.

Shea Snow matched a career-best with a high of 12-1.5 in the pole vault, after winning the SoCon title with an 11-11.5 three weeks ago. She placed tenth at the meet and will compete at the NCAA East Regionals.

Ashley McKiver finished 25th in the 100-meter dash with a 12.38. In the 200-meter dash, she was a second off her best time of the season, with a 25.17, good for 38th place.
