(Back to Coach Index) Assistant Coach Cheryl StinsonAlma Mater: Virginia Tech, 2003 Years at ASU: Second season Cheryl Stinson begins her second year on the Appalachian State University bench after a successful four-year professional career overseas. In 2007, she coached outside hitters Dianna Thomas and Brittany Zahn, who set the career and season ASU kills records, respectively. She also led middle blocker Carla Durham to one of the highest hitting percentages in the conference. The former middle blocker works primarily with the Mountaineer offense. In 2007 she helped Dianna Thomas to the career kills record and Brittany Zahn to the ASU single-season kills mark. Stinson played in the top leagues in Spain, Germany and France. She was also a member of the Canadian National Team following a standout four-year collegiate career at Virginia Tech, where she was recruited and coached by Ginipro. Stinson has coaching experience as an assistant coach at the University of Ottawa and with the Ottawa Mavericks club team in addition to extensive work at various top-level volleyball camps in both Canada and the U.S. Stinson, a native of Ottawa, Ontario, graduated from Virginia Tech in 2003 after earning AVCA all-region honors and first-team all-BIG EAST accolades in 2002. She then suited up for USC Braunschweig in Germany, Hainaut Volley in France and Alvamaca Excentric and Cuitat de Palma in Spain.
