BOONE, N.C. – Appalachian State University softball’s Allie Cashion and Alissa Schoelkopf were named as all-state selections by the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) on Thursday.

Cashion, who earned Southern Conference Player of the Year honors in 2013, was named as a first team all-state selection while Schoelkopf, who notched a single-season school record 20 wins as a sophomore, earned second team honors.

In the final season of her illustrious career, Cashion finished seventh in the SoCon in batting average (.342), led the league in doubles (18), was fourth in RBI (43) and belted a team-best eight home runs. Her outstanding senior season helped the Mountaineers claim their first-ever conference title while finishing with a perfect 18-0 home record, the best in all of NCAA Division I softball.

In her four seasons in Boone, she finished as the single-season school record-holder in doubles (18 – 2013) and RBI (51 – 2012) while setting career records for doubles (51), RBI (183) and total bases (370).

In addition to her on-field accomplishments, Cashion earned her second-straight CoSIDA Academic all-district nod in 2013. She was a third-team academic all-American in 2012, was named as one of 30 finalists for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS award earlier this year and is a nominee for the NCAA Woman of the Year Award.

During her first campaign with the Black and Gold, Schoelkopf led the SoCon in appearances (40) while posting a 20-12 record with a 3.14 ERA and 158 strikeouts in 194.0 innings. She ended the season ranked second in the league in innings pitched, fifth in strikeouts and 10th in earned-run average.

Schoelkopf picked up 12 of her victories in league play, finishing 12-4 against SoCon opponents while posting a 2.91 ERA to go along with eight complete games. She earned the league’s Pitcher of the Week award on March 18 after recording four victories and posting a 1.59 ERA to lead the Apps to a perfect 5-0 record during the week of March 11.
